As our Head of Risk, Personal Everyday Banking, you will join a high performing team that’s doubling down on providing strategic challenge and advice on Risk and driving sustainable outcomes for our customers.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to: 

  • Support safe implementation and provide advice and guidance to enable Personal Everyday Banking leaders to execute their business strategies and identify opportunities to optimise return within risk appetite. 
  • Ensure strategic and expert 2nd Line of Defence function for Personal Everyday Banking. Undertake activities necessary to review and challenge effectiveness of 1st line risk management and compliance and identify opportunities to support the first line to optimise return within risk appetite.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders across 1st and 2nd line functions to drive effective risk management and positive customer outcomes
  • Ensure prospective risk appetite breaches, material risks, loss events and/or deviations from the Risk Management Framework are escalated on a timely basis.
  • Ensure compliance with ASIC and APRA regulatory guides and standards and proactively assess the impact of regulatory change
  • Work closely with business leaders to uplift risk culture, accountability, and ethical decision-making. 
  • Act as a key conduit between frontline business teams and Group Risk to leverage specialist skills and subject matter expertise as needed. 
  • Provide Personal Everyday Banking business unit leaders with ongoing feedback on their risk management performance and outcomes and provide formal feedback annually.  
  • Coordinate CRO reporting, risk reviews, and feedback in development and management of risk frameworks, policies and appetite. 

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver the best for our customers. You’ll need:  

  • Track record of risk leadership experience, ideally in Banking or Finance with deep expertise in operational, compliance, product, credit and/or conduct risk management 
  • Proven ability to influence Leaders and Executives and deliver risk insights that drive performance improvement 
  • Strong people leadership with the capability to build trust and lead cross-functional teams 
  • Passion for Customers – brings strong commercial acumen, the ability to evaluate risk return trade-offs and is focused on delivering customer centric solutions 
  • Bold thinking - Demonstrates clear ability to step into difficult issues and can say what is required and not what people may necessarily want to hear 
  • A Win Together mindset - Builds partnerships and works collaboratively to deliver shared objectives 
  • Respect for People - Creates and engaged team who are collectively motivated to achieve organisational success 
  • A tertiary or postgraduate qualification in Risk, Finance, Commerce, or Law
