  • Reporting to the Head of Business Markets Origination
  • Lead an amazing team with 7 direct reports who are responsible for the Interest Rates advisory business in Metro and Regional & Agri Business Banking.
  • Sydney CBD, Carrington Street

 

In this Director Rates role, you will

  • Ensure a knowledge of products, focus on value to the customer through sales and service, timely and competitive pricing, product delivery and the right solutions for individual customer needs
  • Locate and develop Interest Rate hedging opportunities with the franchise of Business & Private Bank customers through presence in Business Banking Centres and working with bankers through the lending process
  • Actively participate in analysing opportunities, conducting product and account planning for key customers and setting out product objectives and strategies for risk management
  • have a knowledge of global and competitor trends, market conditions, opportunities, and subsequent impact on customers
  • Assist customers and bankers to execute Interest Rate Risk Management transactions
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders, clients and all internal business partners
  • Contribute to and support a team orientated working environment that is enjoyable and rewarding for employees, and consistent with the underlying objectives of the business
  • Have active involvement in the professional development of team members including assistance with capability training, career development, being a role model and mentor, helping to increase skills, experience and work efficiency and effectiveness
  • Maintain a professional standing internally and externally within the wider community

 
What you’ll bring

  • Proactively manage risk, meeting all policy and compliance requirements
  • Undertake appropriate accreditation required by the local regulator & external legislation
  • Adhere to process and procedures pertinent to role
  • Escalate any problems, issues or risks which could potentially have a negative impact on any aspect of business operations, financial position or the level and quality of service provided to customers
  • Monitor daily activity so that unusual, abnormal or suspicious deals, trades or other business activities are identified and quickly addressed
  • Accountable for compliance risk, operational risk, product risk and reputational risk
  • Ensure consistent accuracy and attention to detail in all job-related tasks and all personal training and account records are maintained and kept up to date

 

Role Knowledge, Technical Competencies and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree at a recognised university in a finance or business-related discipline and/ or a post graduate degree in similar disciplines
  • Likely to have at least 10 years’ experience in a Markets environment with previous leadership experience Markets related qualification- AFMA Tier 1 accreditation in IRRM
  • Role requires a high level of specialist knowledge in financial products and services and a solid understanding of influences on financial markets.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, relationship management, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong experience in executing complex client solutions across products.
