An opportunity for an experienced Head of to be accountable for influencing, driving performance efficiency, and supporting the business to deliver portfolio and performance outcomes.

You will also lead a team to produce and provide commercial financial insight, analysis, and recommendations to drive and improve Business performance.

  • Support and align with the NAB Finance Strategy to modernise Finance and seek opportunities to drive simplification and process efficiencies.
  • High quality and timely reporting will be an important deliverable.
  • Continued innovation and technology investment.

In this Head of role, you will

  • Translate the strategy of the business unit into functionally effective plan.  Provide the overall direction to the BU leadership team to ensure development and delivery of objectives and initiatives are within the strategic parameters.
  • Support the BU/EU Executives in partnership with the CFO, to grow the business, align with our strategic ambition and ensure transformation / simplification benefits are achieved in a sustainable and coordinated manner. 
  • Deliver monthly reporting, understand the performance drivers and provide key reasons for variance from plan and prior reporting periods.
  • Deliver half yearly and annual reporting requirements for by providing high quality commentary and meeting deadlines.
  • Identify financial and non-financial performance trends through critical review and analysis and develop and recommend strategies to improve business performance.
  • Collaborate to ensure simplification by ensuring all standard reporting and financial control activities are delivered in a one-way same way approach across Finance.
  • Lead, coach and develop a diverse team, creating and fostering a feedback culture and a psychologically safe environment, track results, and provide clear follow-up and feedback.
  • Build a culture of curiosity, challenge, innovation, and professional scepticism amongst the team.
  • Collaborate with peers to identify and leverage best practice to drive effectiveness uplift across the Finance partner team.

What you will bring

  • The ability to form hypotheses around different strategic choices that could be made across NAB to improve performance.
  • Capability to then test and refine hypotheses and then drive out those that warrant action into execution through influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership Agility including the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Effective in all forms of communications, including ability to interpret and explain results at an executive level.
  • Knowledge of project financial disciplines including capitalisation practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other relevant tertiary and post-graduate qualifications required.
  • Substantial years’ experience across a range of Finance disciplines including partnering with divisions, corporate centre planning and reporting and financial control role.
  • Previous experience in Payments, Deposits, transactions recognised.
  • Proven ability to challenge at all levels, supported by data and analytics.
