The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for a new role in our Regulatory, Corporate & Disputes team with the introduction of a Practice Group Head, Corporate Legal.  The PGH, Corporate Legal will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer, Regulatory, Corporate & Disputes and will be part of the RCD Leadership Team.  It will have the Head of Corporate Advisory Legal and Capital & Funding Legal reporting to it.

 

We are looking for an experienced leader, with strong technical expertise to lead our Corporate Advisory Legal and Capital and Funding Legal teams. This new role will be responsible for providing NAB and the Board with legal advice on corporate, disclosure, M&A, capital and funding matters, complementing the excellent work of our Heads of CAL and C&F, together with their respective teams.  In practice, this will mean working closely with the Heads of CAL and C&F and the CLO, RCD to set team strategy, manage team resources, provide advice, and execute in line with NAB’s ambition to win in core markets by delivering the best outcomes for customers and the bank.

In the role, you will:

  • Lead, motivate and develop a high performing team of customer obsessed colleagues
  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior leaders across the enterprise
  • Facilitate the development of business strategies that deliver compliant solutions in line with risk appetite
  • Provide active leadership and subject matter expertise to various Executive Committees
  • Represent NAB when working with regulators and industry bodies

You are a highly skilled and motivated individual who strives to consistently provide prompt, simple, customer-obsessed legal advice – exercising sound judgement, informed by customer, community and business context. You are an experienced leader, ready for the next challenge and keen to extend your influence across the enterprise.

  • Ideally, a good understanding of the industry and regulatory environment
  • Highly organised in delivering and prioritising competing deliverables
  • Strategic thinker who can develop risk based operational plans to deliver strategic objectives
  • Proven ability to engage and influence peers and leaders
  • Strong operational excellence and strong process orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Legal professional (15 years PQE)
