About the role

Your career at NAB is about more than money, it's about serving our customers well and helping our communities prosper. We currently have an opportunity for a lawyer to join our legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel.

You will provide advice to our Everyday Banking and Digital stakeholders to support the delivery of everyday banking products including credit cards, personal loans and deposits. You may also support, payments, online banking, mobile app, insurance distribution and marketing for these products.

This role also supports the development of new products in these areas and digital distribution of our products. In addition, you will assist stakeholders to consider holistic implications of issues.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and legal counsel to the Everyday Banking & Digital domains in accordance with the priorities set by the Executive, Everyday Banking and Executive, Digital, Personal Bank.
  • Ensure that the everyday banking and digital domains are getting simpler, and more customer and banker focussed whilst meeting legal and regulatory requirements. 
  • Balance legal requirements with simplicity and automation.
  • Ensure that expert legal support is available to the everyday banking and digital domain. 
  • On occasion, this role may be asked to provide legal advice to the Home Ownership domain.

What you will bring

You have excellent stakeholder management expertise, underpinned by first class communication and influencing skills. A highly motivated individual who strives to consistently provide high quality, commercially relevant legal services, you also have:

  • Admission to practice law in Australia, with a minimum of 6 years PQE
  • Knowledge of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, National Credit Code and Corporations Act
  • Experience and maturity to work autonomously and juggle competing demands in a very busy and energised environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including prioritisation and time management.
