The role

The Associate, Islamic Finance is responsible for for supporting the day-to-day management of the Islamic finance business by providing lending support to Relationship Managers within Business and Private Bank.

The opportunity also covers support to maintain and manage the Islamic finance product suite and the delivery of change initiatives that support the Islamic finance strategy.

With a strong focus on ‘making it easy’ for customers, the role will also include community engagement with Muslim community leaders and stakeholders to advocate for NAB’s Islamic finance offering. In addition to this, you will contribute to marketing and research in Islamic finance to contribute to NAB’s thought leadership position in the industry.

Day to day will include.

• Assist in the creation and preparation of lending submissions including obtaining and collation of information from customers.
• Demonstration of professional and ethical behaviour by ensuring compliance with external legislation, bank standards and internal operating policies and procedures
• Delivering a superior customer experience by managing the end to end lending process, maintaining accountability, and engaging the necessary internal and external contacts. Supporting accredited bankers across different business units in B&PB, Government Education and Community, Commercial Real Estate and Corporate & Institutional Bank to ensure a seamless customer experience.
• Undertake annual product review evaluating product performance, portfolio trends, product positioning, customer complaints, banker feedback, Shariah annual review etc.
• Assist in product development work with Business Lending to structure and develop other ‘Off-the-shelf’ Islamic offerings to widen the product suite for NAB’s customer base. Assist in the project management of all the different internal and external stakeholders and streams of work (legal, tax, process reviews, internal approval processes and change management) along with liaising with the external Shariah advisory board for certification.

What you will bring.

• Business and/or Lending banking and financial experience
• Ability to interpret detailed financial information such as credit, cash flow and other lending criteria.
• Problem solving, time management, critical thinking and negotiation skills
• Strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to deal with ambiguity.
• Intermediate to Advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite, primary tool is MS Excel (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• High integrity, respecting highest standards of data privacy and data protection when dealing with sensitive, confidential, and personal information.
• Relevant tertiary qualification desired
