The role:
As the Head of Mainframe Modernisation, you will define and lead the technical direction for each of NAB’s mainframe applications over near, medium and long-term time horizons, with the aim being to remove/reduce/re-home NAB’s mainframe applications to their end-state target home. You will be responsible for leading the production of detailed technical roadmaps for each application, which defines the target state design and transition method. You will support the Core Banking Modernisation agenda with specific focus on the migration of applications to their target state; and lead the existing Account Management function to deliver on domain objectives and ensure applications run to meet expected standards.
The day to day responsibilities will include:
- Lead the transformation delivery of the Mainframe applications to meet the requirements of customers and colleagues
- Ensure appropriate support is maintained for critical applications
- Build a talent factory / pipeline to ensure that critical IP is retained within NAB for the next decade
- Build the roadmap to modernise mainframe applications, including target and transition state
- Ensure alignment to consistent frameworks for continuous delivery
- Ensure appropriate controls are activated and embedded into all key processes
What you will bring:
- Demonstrated in-depth experience and knowledge of modern technology platforms / engineering standards
- Proven senior leadership experience leading Technology teams within a large complex organisation responsible for the transformation delivery and modernisation of mainframe applications
- Extensive years of experience in mainframe engineering leadership, preferably with experience in banking and financial services
- Experienced in large scale migrations of complex core platforms
- Exceptional understanding of engineering technologies, analytics and business process based solutions
- Strong stakeholder and influencing skills proven in complex contexts
- Proven experience influence engineering team members and engineering managers
- Large scale shaping and delivery experience within complex environments
- Tertiary qualification(s) in a related discipline
