The Head of Divisional Controls will be a common point of expert leadership, holding responsibility for driving risk awareness, understanding, reporting and governance to create a centre of excellence for controls and risk, including the uplift of NAB’s controls infrastructure.  

This Head of role will support Personal Everyday Banking (PEB) business unit. 

This role will suit a highly experienced and senior risk leader with outstanding knowledge of risk management, reporting and compliance disciplines ideally within highly regulated environments. Your ability to lead high performing teams, take a practical approach to solving issues and exceptional time management skills will see you bring success to this role and team. 

 

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to: 

  • Manage operational risk and regulatory obligation identification, impact assessment and change within PEB 
  • Build and execute governance risk frameworks to support PEB to meet its Risk measures 
  • Advise business leaders on the application of the operational risk and compliance management framework to evaluate risks and controls to achieve business outcomes 
  • Engage and manage senior stakeholders to implement and improve business systems and processes through the use/integration of the operational risk and compliance framework 
  • Work with the business to implement systems and controls to manage the requirements of operational risk and compliance policies which apply to the business 
  • Design controls: assisting to identify the right controls to mitigate risks and obligations applicable to the business 
  • Provide guidance on risk and control items including Subject Matter Expertise for the following: Risks, Obligations, Controls, Events, Change, and related Policies; Remediation action plans to address any control design or operating effectiveness gaps 
  • Provide business specific input and context to: Risk deep dive reviews, Internal Audit reviews, Assurance reports and Action plans for ineffective operational controls 
  • Assist in regulatory responses and regulatory engagement matters 
  • Lead key initiatives within the business and engaging senior stakeholders to ensure outcomes are delivered 

 

We’re looking for the best and brightest to deliver for our customers. You’ll need:   

  • Extensive, established experience in operational risk management within the banking and finance industry   
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operational risk management and compliance disciplines 
  • A practical approach to solving issues with strong commercial acumen 
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with an ability to engage, build relationships and influence with ease 
  • An understanding of processes, products and systems 
  • A strong understanding of the technicalities of PEB products  
  • Proven Leader of Leaders experience – you will be managing a team of highly technical colleagues
